Why does the Coaching make a difference in Business School Programs

Today, Coaching has become a trend, it is recommended to managers, trainers, entrepreneurs, ordinary people and it seems to be the panacea for all needs. What is presented as coaching actually includes very different realities and it is necessary to offer a high level service, especially when addressing a qualified and demanding audience.

And this is happening more and more within Business Schools, where individual coaching courses are increasingly offered to MBA students and Executive programs.

This is our experience within LUISS Business School, with which, for almost a decade now, I have had the pleasure of collaborating together with a large team of professionals, at the service of the students of the various programs of the School.

The choice corresponds to the commitment to offer not only excellent professional training and so-called “vertical” skills, but also to encourage a process of personal transformation in a moment of special growth for students.

The results confirm the validity of the choice made by the School and agree with recent research relating to coaching programs in various Business School reported by EFMD, an accreditation body for management training programmes.

The presence of an individual coaching path often helps participants prepare for entry into the job market or to apply for higher level positions, in line with the curriculum attended. We read in the cited article that “it is fundamental, both for individuals and for organizations, that transitions from one role to another occur without any problems, and a personalized coaching helps in this sense”.

In my experience I have been able to find how coaching has been an important driver of awareness of one’s own areas of development, both for students at the beginning of their careers and for people with longer experience. In the latter case it was possible to apply the contents of the training received in the classroom to personal reality, encouraging the growth of one’s managerial skills.
